Did you get to see Aurora?

She was spectacular. I stayed up till 2 AM waiting for her and though I intended to drive out of the city, I didn't. She was driven away mostly from the city by the light pollution of the downtown core. A friend of mine was able to see a little of her when looking north east-ish (is that correct C.?  I guess it doesn't matter...) from his house.

Thankfully, Dr. Robert Berdan, a Calgary nature photographer and U of C assistant professor, took some (remarkable) photos. Getting such bright auroras this far south is a relatively rare event. However, the Aurora is nearing it's 11 solar max.

See pictures below:

All photo's taken by Dr. Robert Berdan near Cochrane, Alberta, on Aug. 6 about 2 a.m.
