Current Music Obsession: Ray Lamontagne
Ray is a beautiful man with beautiful songs. Richly deep and vulnerable one can't help but fall a little in love with him. Born to a gypsy mother and a violent father who later abandoned the family he struggled to graduate high school, wrote stories, got into fights, read a lot of fantasy books and eventually started working in a shoe factory. One morning he work up to Stephen Stills' song "Treetop Flyer" which inspired him to become a singer songwriter.
Ray's song are anything but manufactured. They are exclusively his in a way that only he can make them come alive. Like a personally tailored suit, on anyone else it just wouldn't fit.
Nothing less then inspiring... to me.
Nothing less then inspiring... to me.
Hold You In My Arms by Ray Lamontagne
I Still Care For You by Ray Lamontagne
"Lay your blouse across the chair
let fall the flowers
from your hair
and kiss me
with that country mouth
so plain
outside the rain is tapping
on the leaves
to me it sounds like
they're applauding us
the quiet love
we've made"
from the song Empty by Ray Lamontagne
I think he "gets it"
